The 88 Tactical Pro Series

By: Jake “Slim” Call, Breach-Bang-Clear

88 Tactical has a pretty impressive and diverse lineup of instructors. In order to serve its patrons further they’re bringing in a bunch of guest instructors who are well known within the community. We got word of their plans and wanted to share some information with you:

88 Tactical’s new Pro Series is an exciting collaboration with other training industry experts. Starting this June, 88 Tactical will invite guest instructors to teach specialized classes at its facilities to offer students an even broader spectrum of training curriculum. We will host one to three Pro Series classes per quarter, depending on scheduling conflicts. So far we have classes from Sentinel Concepts, Greenside Training and Suarez International on the schedule for this summer.

PRACTICAL SHOTGUN BY SENTINEL CONCEPTS  |  JUNE 2

This is an entry-level course where students are familiarized with their shotguns. This class is geared toward those with training outside the basic classes – from novice to the intermediate shooter, looking to tune up some skills. Even at this early level, we expect students to have an understanding of various methods of reloading, weapon manipulation, and most importantly, muzzle awareness and safety.

This course will be taught by Steve Fisher, the owner and lead instructor for Sentinel Concepts since 2014. He also is a contract instructor for numerous ranges in Michigan and has been a staff instructor for EAG Tactical for the past five years. Steve currently serves as a reserve officer with an agency in the southern United States as a firearms trainer for SWAT and patrol divisions.

CRITICAL CARBINE EMPLOYMENT BY SENTINEL CONCEPTS  |  JUNE 3-4

Critical Carbine Employment develops an enhanced skill set to maintain a level of control mentally and physically while processing information and making decisions on the move. Low light techniques and other skills including timed and graded drills and performance-based tasks will show you where your training is breaking down. This breakdown will allow you to determine what essential courses you may want to re-take as well as provide guidance for individual practice. This course will also be taught by Steve Fisher.

WEAPONIZE THE SENSES BY GREENSIDE TRAINING  |  JULY 15-17

This two-day course is designed to provide an introduction to tracking as it applies to personal safety, sensory awareness, protection of property and livestock, border ops, search and rescue, fugitive recovery, intelligence collection, anti-poaching/anti-dumping, and recovery of highly evasive individuals who seek escape and refuge in our nation’s wild lands.

This course is presented by Mr. Freddy Osuna, author of Index Tracking: Essential Guide to Trailing Man and Beast 2012. Osuna is a highly sought after tracking instructor who most recently performed as the United States Marine Corps School of Infantry East Combat Tracking Subject Matter Expert, and US Army Combat Tracking Course Lead Instructor. Through his attentive mentorship, you will be outfitted with the knowledge necessary in performing this valuable skill. This course teaches the individual skill sets of the Tracker and each individual will be evaluated and rated amongst their peers. You will leave with a deeper understanding of how focusing our senses can enrich your personal and professional lives.

RED DOT COMBAT PISTOL SCHOOL by Suarez International  |  AUGUST 4-6

A few years ago, Suarez International began experimenting with the addition of a mini-red dot sight on a Glock 17 slide. That research culminated in the current system which opened a new door to combat shooting skills. These pistols are in the holsters of Special Forces operators, SWAT and Hostage Rescue Teams, and discerning performance-seeking private citizens. They have all benefited from the real and tangible skill-enhancing characteristics of this system.

In this class you will learn not only the theory and concept of the red dot system on handguns, but will also experience firsthand the improved shooting ability and speed afforded by red dots. Head shots at 25 yards, body shots out into rifle distances and an increased speed and surgical accuracy at room distances are just a few of the benefits. You will learn all the shortcuts, training, and skill-development tips we have developed through our research into this exciting new realm of pistol fighting.
