Intermediate Handgun Training Courses
Our Intermediate Handgun courses are designed for shooters ready to advance their defensive skills and build on the foundation established in Basic Handgun training.

- Reload techniques and shooting at various distances
- Immediate action drills to address malfunctions quickly
Intermediate Handgun Course Structure
Intermediate Handgun is divided into three progressive levels. Upon passing the final level, students qualify to take the Intermediate Qualification. Completion of all Basic Handgun levels and passing the qualification are required unless waived by the training department.
Intermediate Handgun Level 1
This course builds on skills learned in Basic Handgun training, introducing high-ready and high-carry positions, soft-sighted fire, and sight boundaries for adaptable defensive shooting. Successful completion of this level earns students a Holster Certification and a “Draw from Concealment” range card, allowing for independent practice on the range.
Intermediate Handgun Level 2
This course builds on foundational skills, emphasizing precision, speed, and proficiency. Key areas include refining high-ready and high-carry positions, reload techniques, and immediate action drills under time pressure.
Intermediate Handgun Level 3
This course prepares students for the Intermediate Qualification by advancing skills in point shooting, precision, and front-sighted shooting. It covers one-handed shooting, movement techniques such as turns and pivots, and moving target engagement to improve defensive proficiency and situational awareness.
Intermediate Handgun Qualification
The Intermediate Qualification allows students to demonstrate the skills and knowledge gained throughout the course. To pass, students must achieve a score of 70% or higher within three attempts, with each stage completed within a set time limit.*
Upon successful completion, students will receive a Certificate of Completion, a custom pin, and access to the next level of handgun training.
*If students do not pass within three attempts, they can repeat any class in the level at half price for additional practice.
