88 Tactical breaks ground on new building

88 Tactical, a group that trains citizens and law enforcement to better defend themselves and others, has broken ground on a new training facility. The 27,000 square foot complex will be located in Sarpy County at Interstate 80 and Highway 370.

It will include 20 indoor shooting lanes, a 70 foot repelling tower, indoor/outdoor rock climbing wall, a VIP lounge and café, and a gunsmith among many other things.

David Henson, President and Chief Administrative Officer at 88 Tactical mentioned that it will be more than the typical shooting facility. “We do more than just shoot. We train, we educate, we help people get better with their own lives to ensure their safety and security.”

According to President and Chief Operating Officer Trevor Thrasher, 88 Tactical has trained members of federal military forces, special forces, national guard units and even special forces from other countries. But Thrasher stressed that they would like to encourage regular, every day citizens to utilize their new complex and take courses as well.

“Despite all of these units that we’ve trained and all these forces we’ve trained, we’ve trained thousands of individual citizens to be better prepared,” he said.

Courses include everything from wilderness survival skills to handgun basics, even kids anti-bullying and anti-abduction. They are currently offered at the other locations.

The new $5 million facility will employ nearly 50 people and is set to finish in November of 2015.
