Required equipment is available to rent before class, offering a great opportunity to try a handgun before committing to a purchase. Or if you already know what you’d like, you can buy one of our firearms outright. Personal gear is allowed, if it complies with the class requirements.

This class is for anyone who recently purchased a handgun or is actively shopping for one. It’s ideal for new owners or those seeking a first-time orientation. Participants must be 18+ or accompanied by a parent/guardian. A signed waiver and valid government-issued ID are required.

Is this class really free?

Yes! The Handgun Orientation class is 100% free for qualifying participants. We believe in promoting responsible ownership through education and community.

What do I need to bring to class?

Please bring the following:

  • Your handgun (if purchased)
  • 25 rounds of factory ammunition (no reloads)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • A valid government-issued photo ID
  • Proof of handgun purchase, if applicable

Don’t have a handgun yet? No problem—let us know in advance, and we may be able to provide a loaner for use during the live fire portion.

HOw long is the class?

The class is approximately 2 hours long, including both classroom instruction and range time.

Can I bring a guest or family member?

Due to safety and space constraints, we ask that only registered participants attend. However, we offer additional classes and private training options for families and groups.

What happens after the class?

After class, you’ll be invited to:

Is this class a concealed carry certification course?

No, this is not a Nebraska Concealed Carry Certification course. However, it’s an excellent first step toward future defensive handgun training or concealed carry classes.

That’s exactly who this class is for! Our instructors are experienced in working with brand-new shooters and will guide you through every step in a safe, welcoming environment.

What’s the difference between "Intro to Handgun" and "Handgun Orientation"?

Intro to Handgun is a paid course designed to provide a deeper dive into firearm fundamentals, including handgun types, ammunition, maintenance, and dry-fire practice. It’s especially popular with first-time shooters and is offered in both co-ed and women-only formats.

Ready & Responsible: Handgun Orientation is a free, 2-hour introductory class for new or prospective handgun owners.
